While everyone is jumping for joy over falling leaves and pumpkin spice everything, I find fall bittersweet. It reminds me that the summer is no longer fleeting, days are getting shorter, and my wardrobe is looking less like fun, lightweight dresses and more like bulky sweaters. Not that there is anything wrong with bulky sweaters, I just prefer summer knits.
To savor those summer dresses, tank tops, and bodysuits—yes, you can wear bodysuits in the fall—my favorite accessory for getting cozy inside, by the fire pit, or date night dinners:
Oversized Blanket Scarves
Plaid and fall go together like peanut butter and jelly, or if you're me, peanut butter and rice cakes. Grab a plaid blanket scarf for a seasonal touch, but note that blanket scarves are not one size fits all. For a blanket scarf to be styled the way I like, it has to be two things: rectangular and wide enough to wrap around your shoulders like a shawl, but also fit around your neck without being too bulky. The one I'm wearing is 80" x 39", but I fold it in half. If I'm not wanting to fold it in half:
My go-to scarf is 60" x 55", give or take a little.
Added bonus: Blanket scarves make amazing and affordable gifts. I love this one that offers monogramming. Now bring on the pumpkin iced coffee—black with two pumps of pumpkin—but don't forget the blanket scarves. It's the best of both worlds.
